Semi-related trivia of the day: In the movie Rogue Nation that was actually Tom Cruise strapped to the side of an Airbus A400M - no CGI, no stuntman.

A little digital magic scrubbed the safety wires but he's still a crazy mofo.
And the fact I'm still living rent free in his head makes me grin and giggle.

Skydiving IS fun... but it pales compare to racing since, after all, you can’t fall through the air for a couple of hours.

If I were on that plane I would do everything I could to have Tom Cruise strap on a backpack full of dirty laundry.

Funny. Jump school at Ft. Benning is was not as tough as made out aside from the harassment by instructors. The old war movies do not do justice to the training, in particular the towers which are 250 feet or your 5 qualifying jumps from about 1200 feet. If anyone remembers the old Coney Island parachute tower (now closed) from which a lot of kids got the buzz to become paratroopers.
