Post look alike watches, homages or outright rip offs in this thread. We are reviving a tradition started by our resident Pug, Boscoe.

Crazy Fingers - I bought the invicta ripoff of the orange monster. There were a couple of reasons. I think the Invicta hands look a lot better; I hate the scale of the OM hour hand. I also like the 'chrome' outlines on the hour markers of the Invicta. Another thing I never liked about the OM and the Invicta copy was the bezel. I opted for the version with the black, standard Pro Diver bezel. Comparing the two, the superior quality of the Seiko is apparent. But aesthetically, I do prefer the Invicta. Plus, getting it fom slop back in 2005 for $69.00 (with coupons) was a great deal.

Fair enough. I think I have seen the one with the pro diver bezel and it looks much better than the one I was talking about. I also agree on the scale of the hour hand on the OM.

I agree that one was the most egregious single example, by a bullet, but the numbers of replicas the turds at Stuhrling churns out is dizzying.

@Eric

Mink designed the Oceanaut case under contract but kept the design patent is the story and then came out with the beast with a larger case size a year later. He went on air with the "patent" after some questioned he claims. This is what a patent search shoued up

What appears to be the beast case is here

NIce daniel Mink watch by the way. Just missed out on one when the guy decided he wanted a bit more for it.
