Seiko Prospex “Black Series” Automatic Limited Edition

Post by Racer-X » September 11th 2018, 12:03pm

“...The 2018 Seiko Prospex Black Series – part of the collection nicknamed the “Turtles” – is a trilogy of high performance timepieces inspired by the world of night diving and built to Seiko’s stringent standards. Two of the watches in the new trio are solar powered and one – arguably the most handsome of the group – is automatic, waterproof to 200m with a screw-down crown at 4 o’clock and a generous day-date aperture at 3 o’clock.”

Probably for the same reason, for which people buy a Hummer or an Escalade.

Cos its a good size for a dive watch?

In real-world use they wear like an SKX, so the listed size isn't a problem.

This is true. Like everyone else, I figured Carl had ingested too much salt water when he first made this argument, or possibly been rogered by an errant dingo, but the Turtle does indeed wear like an SKX, which is very wearable indeed.

They’re definitely large, but I think the overall presentation makes sense as a large cushion case diver.

I’m in a vast minority that wishes the Turtle had 20mm lugs, because my criticism is the heft of the 22mm OEM bracelet and its limited taper down to 20mm. The clasp and bracelet feels enormous, I wish it at least tapered to 18mm like some of the aftermarket bracelets.
