Clever idea, using that line. First time I've seen anybody write it after buying a Sinn.

These are a bit underwhelming IMO. Plenty of watches that do the same thing, finished as well or better, for a fraction of the price. But, but, they aren't made from German submarine steel, you cry. Yeah, well, I don't live in the German ocean.

Hard to knock the Citizen in its class - but as good as is strictly in the eye of the evaluator, by golly. Given the choice in this case, I'd choose the splendidly crafted, finely regulated, and mightily durable, 556.

I'd suggest handling both before drawing a conclusion.

Not a fan of Sinn. I prefer the Citi also, but would take a Damasko over either.
Meritocracy: the privilege, wealth and advancement of those who chose their parents wisely.
Capitalism: a cult that promised to do good for the worst reasons.
Nationalism: a profound longing to go back to a past that never existed.

Think I've seen your Damasko, Bedlam, from memory it was really nice. Don't know much about their range of models.

It doesn't make much sense to say I'd take a Sinn - it's a huge range of models and pricepoints and quality varies markedly over the entire range. The 556 is the bottom rung and looks and feels it - John's Navi is nothing like a 556, obviously. 556 is still a very nice watch, don't get me wrong, but not in the same league as the Citi. Only thing better on the 556 is the bracelet (except for the endlinks and clasp).

Interestingly, I'd agree about the clasp for most Sinns. They are pretty bargain basement, at least for the H-link bracelet (which is, otherwise, very good indeed.) This is one thing that most Sinn owners can come together on, that the H-link clasp is pretty much shit. Kind of like Seiko not bothering to sign their crowns on top end models, or their bezels not lining up generally, it's something that comes with the territory and either you live with it or move on. The only good thing about the clasp on the H-link is that at least it's not the butterfly clasp on the fine-link, which, obviously, sucks dick.
