A bronze/blue model without date would be my choice

At that price point, I'd pick a Longines Legend Diver over that in a heartbeat. SW-200 at that price point...hmmm, no. Fuck, no. Visually, there's nothing wrong with it. The steel version with black and orange colour scheme is cool, just not 2100 euro cool. Something like the new generation of the SW-300 with its power reserve extended to 56 hours (with the new mainspring and mainspring barrel) would be more adequate.

I agree with Mr. Bloke. MLs you can find gray for 50% off without much heavy lifting. The SW300 would be more desirable as well. As an aside, the white strap is pretty South Beach ghey.

A bit pricey but I guess they justify it by the "only 500 pieces" volume. I don't understand this desire by watch companies to have limited releases when they could sell 10 or 100 times as many watches. Don't they want to make money?

Why spend all that time and effort and only be able to amortize the expenses over a tiny smattering of watches? Sure, it creates buzz and a lot of demand in the second hand market but watch companies are in the first hand market, right?

Or maybe the costs to produce a 'new' watch aren't so high so the watch company can easily release several "limited editions" a year with no penalty.

back to the ML Pontos; are SW-200 movements now rare beasts in the horological jungle? I think I've got a couple of them in watches costing far less than the Pontos. I'd have to see that watch up close in person to be able to decide on pulling the trigger on that otherwise nice looking watch.

Handsome diver - like the compressor case but not particularly compelling given the competition in the midrange, especially, as others said, with ML's cashing in on the SW200 fire sale.
