Diving on a german E-boat

Post by Jamesbee » September 24th 2014, 1:19pm

And a lot of fooling around in between, for which I apologize. The watch used was a CW-C60 in blue (no, not the LM blue, the regular blue I'm afraid) You can just make out what used to be the torpedo tubes and exit points on the wreck.

cheers guys,

Sunk off Peljesac peninsula in Croatia in 1944, in the middle of nowhere. Shelled by 3 British patrol ships, she surrendered after 2 onboard deaths, the crew was saved, then she was lost as the RNV tried to salvage her. Torpedo's still on board.

Thanks!

Slight derail:
I'm fascinated by wrecks, though I don't dive. Someday, maybe.
One wreck that would be fun to see is HMS Victoria, which "lies" off of Tripoli (Syria, not Libya, not that there's much difference nowadays), sunk in1893.
She was accidentally rammed when the Admiral in charge tried a fancy maneuver without enough space between ships to pull it off. Victoria had a single, massive, turret forward, and when she sank, that great weight pulled her straight down, and she knifed into the mud bow first. She was discovered in 2004, still stuck in the mud, a vertical shipwreck.

The men are standing on the turret:

Nice video and photos. You do saturation diving if my memory is still working right? How deep was the E-Boat? It appears to be about 90' down. In regard to the Victoria, no lady should have her ass in the air like that. Undignified death for a ship.

Hey mate, I have been swamped lately with stuff, but I've recently quit my job and am leaving with the family for a year off in Africa. So I'll be around a bit more I hope :)

Watch out for those bull sharks in Africa, fresh and salt water. The closer to fresh water, the more aggressive they seem. I have been doing a small, minor bit of free diving myself. I bought the iPhone camera housing, but can't get the app to load. Hawaii has cool stuff, but nothing like where you go.
In memory of TB/Phfluff, since he isn’t here to continue to give his praise, I will share it for him.

Awesome James. Love it :-)

Man I would love to get to Hawaii, there are so many awesome dive spots. Mine are pretty pedestrian in comparison. Check this guy out: http://www.youtube.com/user/blessumm I believe he is Hawaii based and has many videos of great dives.
