Watchlords

For Clean Up Australia Day 2013 we went to the local fisherman's jetty to clean up underwater. Pulled 15 garbage bags of stuff and 3 deck chairs out from beneath Ammo Jetty near Woodman Point. The visibility is low because of some current and us churning the water a little as we pulled stuff off the bottom. The resident Lionfish and several octopi kept an eye on us.

The OS300 is a pleasure to wear diving. Its big but well balanced, the bezel is a joy, the crown is perfect and the dial visibility is as good as it gets. Some pics...

Good man! I wore my 300 today while cooling off in the rooftop pool at my club. Much the same thing.

In any case, Orient seem adequately nice but not at a Sinn level...thoughts?

Both are seriously good watches and a man would be happy long-run with either. For actually diving? The Orient is a fairly easy choice.

The case comparison is a close thing in favour of the U1. But the OS300 has a far better bezel action (just about the best in the business), in-house movement, costs less, classic dive watch looks, much better dive strap. The Orient also keeps better time (+4 secs vs +11 for mine). And it seems that is not a lucky accident - I have never heard anyone report anything other than an Orient Sat Diver being a class act in terms of time-keeping.

I am a Sinn fan and love my U1 and want to pick up an EZM10 at some point. If I was a desk-diver I can certainly see how I might fall on the U1 side of the line. But as an active diver? Nope, give me an OS300.

All things considered the best dive watches I have ever worn for diving are the MM300 and the OS300. Japan for the win

Notwithstanding the above I do love my German watches. The one I am really waiting for is a Damasko 300m dive watch with their in-house movement. That will be my watch heaven.

Fine pics, Carl! I think I'll wear my OS300 today, and if anyone at work asks me about it as a dive watch, I'll pull this thread up and pretend that it's actually me in the pics!

I call bullshit! Nothing but old Sea Hunt footage with an Orient photoshopped in - I can even see Lloyd Bridges in one of those pix. If there were really from Australia, there'd be those damn oversized Foster's cans all over the place.

Comprehensive, I have no hands on experience with either one so, I tend to listen to those who had.

Rats. The Supermarine didn't arrive and the Bunbury dive is this Sunday. Oh well, next time. Will take the BN0085 instead.
