AMCHPR 2024 China Tour - Luoyang in the sunshine

Post by AlbertaTime » October 22nd 2024, 5:21am

As I'd mentioned, the last couple of days in Luoyang were overcast and kinda cold, but the sun came out today, and it was lovely--about 65-70 degrees.

So here's 20 random shots of Luoyang in the sunshine, starting with my hotel. Had a great day walking around with Li Jiushun. And there's one shot of the city from my hotel room in the mix.

Well, there's *lots* of garish signs--but not in the photos I showed above. There's graffiti, too.

There's an army of street sweepers, everywhere. They wield big brush brooms and do an amazing job. There is litter, but at least in the bigger cities, it doesn't stay on the roads very long at all.

I just did a quick search of the photos I have with me to find litter, signage and graffiti, and here's what I found (almost no litter)...but I saw graffiti in Beijing in the art colony and I know I also saw some in Wuhan--mind you, it's rare enough that it stood out. It's certainly not all over the place.

There are poor people, folks who make a lower-class living selling bottles or cardboard, and street sweepers and such. Drug-addled are very rare. I'm familiar with them, and I haven't seen one in China. I'm sure they exist, but...

if you view a Youtuber called Treeman, you can search his social experiments for encounters with cardboard pickers, sweepers and such. Of course, there are those who will not help--but there are many who will, and that's one of the reasons I like being in China--I've seen the good stuff first hand, many times.

East meets west. The woman in the old traditional dress hikes it up just enough to see the Nikes. Reminds me of the times when I'd see women in the middle east covered head to toe in burqas, but with jeans and tennis shoes underneath.
See you're WRONG I don't work at all, I'm a Democrat. The immortal Horse Feathers as spoken to Chucky Ninetoes.
