AMCHPR 2024: Day 2 with Li Jiushun
Although it was a sometimes chilly, and most often overcast/drizzly day in Luoyang, my day with Li Jiushun was a pleasure every minute. The first four shots were taken in Mr. Li's home:

The next four were taken at Guan Lin Temple in Luoyang, which is not a Buddhist temple, but a tomb honoring Guan Yu, a revered Han era General. My understanding is that three Chinese religions (Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism) all hold Guan Yu in high regard, which explains the eclectic artwork found at the site. You'll notice some tile roof end caps in the photo of Li Jiushun.

The final four photos were taken on the grounds of the White Horse Temple, the very first Buddhist temple in China, established in AD 68.

More, probably tomorrow--but I'm exhausted :-)
- Shot #1 is a detail shot of Li Jiushun's craftwork, carved from a tree knot.
- Shot #2 highlights Li Jisuhun's rubbing of a relief found at a site in Luoyang. Many of the older buildings are being lost due to redevelopment, and the rubbings capture art Mr. Li wants preserved.
- Shot # 3 shows examples of old stonework Mr. Li rescues from destroyed buildings.
- Shot #4 shows rescued end caps from 200 year old (or older) Chinese tiled roofs.
