Peacock Watch Group factory & more Dandong 9/7/2023

Post by AlbertaTime » October 21st 2023, 2:51am

My first factory visit this trip was to Liaoning Peacock in Dandong, followed by Shijiazhuang, which I reviewed a few days ago, here: Shijiazhuang Sea-Gull Watch industries Sept 11 2023 AMCHPR

Peacock is a strong player in China's modern horological market, seeing considerable success with its own watches (especially tourbillons) as well as a builder of watch movements used by numerous other companies, like Atelier Wen, Jintuofei, and many more. The new factory displays that recent high profile.

Here's a couple of teasers...

Wow, enjoyed the train trip and the factory tour. Sure beats the Amtrak experience. It's enlightening to see your experiences juxtaposed to western perceptions of Chinese watchmaking.

Very appreciated, bb and Mark.

It's fascinating to see this stuff first hand, but it's also a huge bunch of fun sharing what I'm seeing, and it's even a bit reassuring to get responses. Thank you.

Really, really amazing Ron. Love the train ride. I don't think I'd try crab roe flavored. . . Anything. But good on you. Tourbillon is amazing.

Love the peacock, peacock 🦚 watch ⌚️.

All the pictures are amazing. Top shelf! You've made so many friends on your journeys. I can see how much they respect your work by how well they treat you.

Very impressive!!!

Thank you, Christopher!

This is between Shijiazhuang and Tianjin, but it's what stuff looks like at 300kmh.

I've said this about my photography before: it's pretty easy to take OK photos of really interesting stuff :-)

And it was very interesting to me comparing an older factory like Shijiazhuang with Peacock.

Super fast. The country doesn't look much different than the midlands of England at speed.

Very fast, yup--and very smooth.

And, one of the reasons I post the train videos is they actually show how similar large areas of China are to anywhere else, in many ways.

The train is cool, man - even the snack pack looks great - except for the crab roe flavored sunflower seeds. Yeech.

Love the tours of the manufactures - the production machinery is fascinating.
Thanks, 3F. I find the factory visits fascinating, too.

All I can say about the sunflower seeds is: I can't tell you what they tasted like but I hope the birds liked them. All the rest tasted great.

But there's lots of fish/seafood flavoured chips/seeds etc snacks in China, and I think the Philippines, too--I know our local Filipino store has them. I don't eat them :-)
