Air quality in scenic Peace River

Post by AlbertaTime » May 6th 2023, 2:10pm

Here's the air quality where I live due to the somewhat nearby forest/grass fires, May 6th.

Image

We're in the upper left quadrant, in the middle of the smoke path and about halfway to the U/L corner from the three fires just by where it says Alberta (from yesterday--it's worse today).

Wow. That's a lot of smoke. Hope you breathe.
At home, with a very good air purifier, and mostly staying in one room, unless I need to go out for something (and I haven't today).

It's not fun with my COPD and asthma, but I've always had good medical support and I'm doing OK Image

Thanks, all.

Like I said, I have good meds and a great purifier so as long as I'm not outside much, I'm good.

Took some photos yesterday when the stuff *started* coming in and settling...much worse now, but I'm not going out to take photos.

Jaysus. It looks like the end of the fucking world....usually towards the middle of the summers, when forest fires are the worst.
Yep. This is early in the year.

We had a bad bout a couple of years ago, but it was in late August IIRC. And the air didn't get quite this bad (high 300s)

Hi all, we're down to 102 which is merely "unhealthy for sensitive groups" as long as the wind direction holds.

Wednesday is supposed to get bad again.

We finally got clean air for a bit. Supposed to go up Saturday, but most fires are contained now.

We'll see what happens with the thunderstorms tonight :-)

That's good news. Hope you just get some good old fashioned rain without the lightning 🌩

Central Oregon looked like that three years ago with a multitude of wildfires. We are just now getting our first extended dry weather period. The rain has been tiresome but there is something to be said for being too wet to burn.

It just keeps on coming.

We haven't been evacuated where I live, so far, and we might remain lucky--but smoke is still very bad, ranging around 200-210 right now, merely "very unhealthy"

On the other hand, it makes for great sunsets.
