2020 Shenzhen China Watch and Clock Fair cancelled

Post by AlbertaTime » March 2nd 2020, 4:15am

I was just informed:

Information just received, as received:

"About 2020 China (Shenzhen) International Horologe Exhibition

Notice of suspension

Dear Exhibitors, Buyers and Consumers,
The 31st China (Shenzhen) International Horological and Watch Fair (Shenzhen Watch and Clock Fair), originally scheduled for June 20-23, 2020, has been suspended.

From the Order Fair and the Trade Fair to the UFI International Exhibition, the exhibition has experienced the trough of SARS and reached the peak of the combination of the two exhibitions in thirty years.

She records the endless life of an industry, but also carved the struggle for excellence in the industry, organizers, exhibitors, buyers and all those who love clocks condensed into a generation of golden years.

The Xinguan Pneumonia epidemic has changed the normal work pattern in 2020, and the Shenzhen Watch & Clock Fair also made the above decision according to the actual environment.
Due to exhibition and venue reasons, Shenzhen Watch & Clock Fair will not rule out restarting in 2021.

The industry will have ample time and space to make strategic adjustments to recuperate and recharge. The organizers will also deeply summarize the gains and losses of the previous phase, fully listen to and understand the needs of domestic and foreign customers, as one of the important industry exhibitions in the international market, and further enhance the influence.

Thank you again for your support and love for Shenzhen Watch Fair.

I wish the industry colleagues health, and strive to create brilliant!

Will the current goings on affect your plans? Did you have a trip planned this year?

I have to admit I would not travel there at this time. Or any other time. I mean, I would love to see it, but I'm the kind of asshole that goes to China and never comes back other than in a political prisoner exchange not that the US would be in any hurry to get my ass back.

I also have to admit that, regardless of their level of personal responsibility, I will not travel isles in stores on which some hunched over sick-o, or multiples are hacking up a lung, projectile sneezing, sneezing, wretching, coughing, blowing their nose, their spouse, or etc., so take my China policy accordingly. No travelogues this year would stink on ice though- perhaps we could pitch in on a case of N-95 breather masks and a waterproof (therefore germ proof) camera housing.

To Foggy: Yup, I had planned on May/June--now I hope for September :-( . If daily mask wearing is still in play everywhere, I'll pass till next year and hope for the best. No need to travel for that discomfort--I might end up doing that at home.

T 3F: I'm solidly with Hawk's tribe, and I was thinking the first time I went to China that I also would be "the kind of asshole that goes to China and never comes back other than in a political prisoner exchange" but it ain't exactly like that, there. I discovered I bristle there, and I bristle here--it's just about different things.

That said, I have COPD, so for a good while now, I also "will not travel isles in stores on which some hunched over sick-o, or multiples are hacking up a lung, projectile sneezing, sneezing, wretching, coughing, blowing their nose, their spouse." I move away if someone sneezes--and I often pointedly say something if folks don't cover their cough/sneeze, or come to work sniffling and hacking.

So I get that.

Re: "No travelogues this year would stink on ice though"...

No shit. There's zero I like about this situation. I'm homesick as hell because, for all its many faults, I love travelling in China and I love my friends there, and I hate this.

Damn, Ron. Sorry about delaying the trip, SKYPE and whatnot just ain't being there.

I was at Target picking up some crap on sale in the circular and was headed down the paper goods isle on the grocery side of the store just in time to see a guy about midway, hunched over his cart heaving up a lung one loose, productive spasm after another unleashed from an uncovered mouth onto his cart full of food and whatnot. I passed on paper towel. I think the lady who stopped short right behind me took her son and left the store.

This particular guy wound up OD'ed in a stall in the "Family Restroom". IV opioid antitussive of some sort, no doubt.. It is a commonplace occurrence here; there are sharps disposal units on the walls in the restrooms of most grocery stores and gas stations. Resources are slowly improving but the substance abuse situation here is intense. So I'm guessing that the gentleman's cart full of groceries and whatnot didn't get taken with in the ambulance and that the stuff likely got restocked.

Hell of a world we've made for ourselves.
