News from Benjamin Chee, for the pooches...

Post by AlbertaTime » October 3rd 2019, 6:04pm

As long as I've known Ben, he's been promoting and helping a privately supported pet rescue agency in Singapore called gentle Paws, and very recently he's doing this:
Dearest friends, I'm proud to launch our latest model, the Celadon Premier, an excellent and elegant Chinese luxury watch robust and versatile enough for everyday wear. The Premier carries on the two most distinctive guilloche dials of the Imperial - the Red Plum Blossom and Blanc de Chine Peacock, now with an added centre seconds hand (blued on the Peacock). It is equipped with the reliable Celadon-Grade B15 automatic movement, the same movement used in the Yue Fei, made for us by Beijing Watch Factory to our higher standards and put through three additional layers of quality control.

The Premier's case is an ideal 39mm in diameter and 9mm thin, extensively hand-brushed and water-resistant to 100m, with squared scoops at the sides of the lugs that are highly-polished. The finishing touch is the magnificent three-dimensional peacock encircling the peonies, first seen on our Celestial Bespoke in cloisonné enamel, and now crafted in metal on the Premier's caseback.

To commemorate our seventh anniversary this year, we'll be launching the Premier with the special Seventh Anniversary Edition limited to 100 pieces. This launch is combined with our 100X Campaign, where we will donate 100% of all net proceeds from the sale of all 100 Premier Seventh Anniversary Edition watches to our adopted dog shelter Gentle Paws (https://www.facebook.com/GentlePaws/), which will be enough to fund them fully for a year. After seven years of fighting the good fight, we have not forgotten our mission to create Watches of Excellence, and to be a Force for Good. The Premier Seventh Anniversary Edition is our tribute to the silent indomitable heroes who care for these dear abandoned and homeless dogs in spite of the daily hardship and heartache they endure.

The retail price of the Premier is 1098 Singapore dollars (about 798 USD), but for a limited time, we are taking pre-orders at 711 Singapore dollars (about 518 USD), a 35% price reduction. If you'd rather your 5% transaction fees go to Gentle Paws rather than Paypal, feel free to contact us at [email protected] to arrange a bank transfer.

I like that red dial.
Me too. It's really something. I lost my red dial Imperial somewhere between Zhengzhou and Shanghai in 2018, so I'm really thinking hard about the red dial.

I loved the original Imperial, but I maybe like this case design even more. My problem is the white one is also pretty tempting, and I can only afford one of them. I've said this elsewhere but the peacock Celadon dial is the absolute best "traditional" Chinese pressed dial I've ever seen, and the Chinese makers have been great at that since the 1960s.

Decisions, decisions...

A couple of these have floated around the Lords. I got new contact lenses and can see the dial on my Celadon dress/diver now. I kind of ragged on Ben after waiting a very long time for the full kit. I guess I'll assuage my J-guilt with a donation to the pooches.

Nice, I prefer the white dial myself. To me the red looks pressed, but the white looks engraved.
Undrstood and agreed. The white is *craft*.
