We've been seeing a lot of haze out on the horizon, due to the Bear Gulch fire out on the Olympic peninsula. Here in the Sea-Tac area our air quality is listed as "moderate."

All you bastards take care; if the smoke gets bad, I've heard that the KN95 masks are good if you have to go outside. Otherwise, if you have health issues, it's best to stay inside and keep your AC going to clear the air.

Yep--I've got a good air purifier running 24/7 right now and I mostly stay in that one room. I wear a mask right now, even inside if I'm out of that room.

A tip: forest fire smoke is far more dangerous and damaging than industrial pollution. From an AI overview:
Yes, wildfire smoke is generally more dangerous to human health than industrial pollution, even when levels of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) are the same. Wildfire-derived PM2.5 is more toxic because it contains a higher concentration of harmful compounds, along with a higher proportion of smaller, ultrafine particles that penetrate deeper into the lungs and can enter the bloodstream. This makes exposure to wildfire smoke more potent, increasing risks of respiratory issues, heart problems, neurological damage, and even premature death.

I, along with Snoop, and Cheech, and also Chong, are all extremely disappointed with the content of this message.

And that terrible poor air quality - and why it is so poor, too. It’s not like Nature saying “take a load off with this special something…”

Nope. Instead she’s saying, “…you idiots really PISS ME OFF!

Hope it clears up soon. It's drier than a popcorn fart around here but no large fires near by-knock on wood. I will be paying for my homeowners insurance tomorrow. The cost has gone up and where the policy price is it says Fire Bal Due, maybe its said that before and I didn't notice.

Coming home from the asbestos factry today and the sun looked like an orange GSW in all the haze and shit.
We're getting some flaming red sunsets here, for sure.

I remember moving out here in 1990 from Chi-town. We never saw haze and smoke and shit. Mrs. C and I came out in the late 80s for a vacation, and I remember the air was so pure, and it was so quiet. Chicago seemed like such a shithole back then, when we moved to the PacNW I thought we'd moved to Eden.

Mostly it's stayed like that, but for the last ten years or so, some summers have been plenty bad with the forest fires. Go figure.
