I know opinions differ, but I've always had a sweet spot for Cali dials. I like this one, and at well under $100,00 (really, under $80!!) I thought it was worth the gamble.

It is. (Sorry 'bout the spekka dust onna crystal. It brushed off.)

I'll put it on a different strap only because the stock strap is a little too long for me. Seizenn California Dial Retro from Merkur:

Has a real vintage look to it. The brush work stands out, particularly on the caseback. It seems to be brushed in a circular direction which you can see repeated on the lugs. Congrats.

It's certainly a budget piece, but the cosmetics are very good for the dollar paid.

I'll also add that the round caseback depressions for removal work *way* better when using a two prong standard caseback tool that the much more usual outside rectangular notches.



There's no slippage at all--just put the two smaller points in the holes, keep a bit of downward pressure and Bob's yer uncle. I think that's smart design and I wish more companies would do it.

And yes, too long watch straps are my nemisis too. Why i liked only bracelets for a long time.

Finding straps that fit a 6.5" wrist is not easy.

I look for 65/105, and hardly anyone makes them except Holben (I just ordered some) for under $100 a strap (and even then...). I can't find a single nylon or canvas 20mm strap like that, and even 70/100 is a bit too big for me on most watches, especially if they're long, lug to lug.

I like this watch. It gives me a goddamn boner.

I was never a fan of California dials. They just kinda grew on me. This one seems really well done.

Yeah, of course. The finishing looks good but nothing special. Classic case and crown but nothing special. Never really knew what to make of California dials. But it's the dial, aged lume, cool strap... It's a watch that is fashion and style. It will look interesting and awesome with clothes I wear to a bar or restaurant. And it's $80!

Seems exactly right to me. It all comes together just fine, has the look, and makes a great accessory. At 80 bucks! Well, closer to 70, really, but you know what I mean
