No FEARS For ‘New’ Watch Company

Post by koimaster » April 1st 2019, 8:44am

The Fears Watch Company Limited is a family-run British watch company that can trace its history back 170 years. Between 1846 and the late 1950s, quality watches coming out of the City of Bristol proudly bore the name FEARS on their dial. A young 22-year-old watchmaker named Edwin Fear established a workshop and showroom at 33-35 Redcliff Street in Bristol.

It's also nice that Jim Parsons took a break from The Big Bang Theory to take over the company.
My little brain can't even comprehend how deep that is.

650 quid for a fucking quartz, and then more than 3 grand for a gold-fucking-plated case with a Peseux in it? Really? By Jove...

The designs aren’t awful. I wouldn’t buy one, but it’s nice to see a company putting out 38mm watches. Who cares if it’s because that’s what fits the owners kid wrists.
A bit pricey but I like the size. I doubt too many 22-yr. olds care if the watch is automatic or quartz and it's the younger set that'll be buying these. Their website really pours on the history.

They priced the Redcliff 'streamline' the same as it was in 1946 after adjusting for inflation. Of course, the '46 version was mechanical and probably had to be adjusted to the BBC radio time weekly.

That 'continental' dial had me singing the theme song to "Petticoat Junction".
