Ugh, just give me a car I can drive without any digital crap in it. My wife and I test drove a VW that wanted her to sync her phone to the car before the dashboard would work. WTF??

By the time this concept gets to the assembly line floor, it'll look pretty much like all the other BMWs and all the crazy paint and virtual friends stuff will be gone.

It’s axiomatic that just about every info tech convenience simultaneously becomes a means of surveillance and control even if completely unintended by design

So this will become My Nagging Mother the Car

You have to be an oldster like me I’m thinking to remember the short lived tv show that’s being referenced

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Mother_the_Car

I’m downsizing now - buy my watches folks - and I’ve got two cars, 2004 Lexus LS 430 and 78 Alfa Spider, both of which are nice

But even the 2004 vehicle has more electronic intermediation than I’d like, so I’m thinking that’s the one I’m going to sell

It looks pretty good but it relies upon 22 inch wheels with 2mm of clearance. Even a Golf looks half decent on huge wheels. On normal wheels and suspension this would look very ordinary. It's only a concept and the surfacing has barely been started, let alone finished.

Priorities.

I look at color changing skin and the first thing that comes to mind is “active camo”. BMW looks at it and thinks “mood ring”. I don’t know if that makes me a Luddite or just mischievous.
I also thought of criminals using this car to evade capture by changing the color. That is one of the features that we likely won't see. (pun intended)

I used to get all excited when a concept car with lots of cool features was shown off at some auto show. Then, maybe 2-3 years later, the production model rolls out and NONE of the cool stuff was there. See the VW Buzz microbus that may or may not get to the US someday. They say 2024 but that date is far enough off to get shoved a few more years off without anyone noticing.

Yeah I’m still waiting on illuminated tires. Maybe when we finally get our jet packs
