Top Gun: Maverick

Post by jason_recliner » June 13th 2022, 4:06pm

America! FUCK YEAH!!!

Seen it? What did ya think? Haven't seen it yet? Then get off your ass and go see the damn thing!

So much fun, so much nostalgia. So much emotional content! Tugs heavily on 80s heart strings yet it can stand alone as cinematic joie de vivre.

Tiny Tom Cruise is a bombastic time machine, word is he has a charisma smoothie for breakfast every day. And speaking of time machines... Jennifer Connelly. Oh my lord. I'm not normally one for the older women but there are exceptions. God DAMN.

Flying scenes jaw droppingly out of this world.

Uplifting, inspirational, motivational. I fucking LOVED it, in case you can't tell.

Go see it. It's what Goose would have wanted.

Went and saw Everything Everywhere All at Once instead. What a cool movie.
Meritocracy: the privilege, wealth and advancement of those who chose their parents wisely.
Capitalism: a cult that promised to do good for the worst reasons.
Nationalism: a profound longing to go back to a past that never existed.

Are you on cinematic rations?
No, Maverick doesn't interest me though.

I'll wait until its available on Netflix and ignore it there too.

Cruise isn't a draw-card for me though I did enjoy Edge of Tomorrow and Oblivion.

If you were going to see it it's gotta be on the big screen in cinema surround sound. Action, scenery, soundtrack, all are epic, TV wouldn't get close to doing it justice.

.

Here is a real fighter pilot doing some low level F/A-18 flying.

Soo much crap in the Maverick movie simply seen from the trailers alone. For the unknowing it will probably get the juices flowing ----------I assume.

Like "Maverick" flying from the back seat of a super hornet.
The rearward view from the front (pilot) seat does not look like the rearward view from the rear (NFO) seat.
Fleet SuperHornet F & G models are not equipped with a flight controls in the back (unless someone corrects me), only the training models have them and they are not used on deployments.

No thank you, I'd have a hard time overlooking the made for movie navy bullshit, that thats just me. ymmv

WOW. Balls of steel.

Top Gun: Maverick is more like Star Wars than Narcos. You do need to suspend disbelief and just go along for the ride.

Maybe you’re right, but I’d have to hear what Jingles says to be sure.

Finally got around to seeing this on the plane the other day. WOW. Absolutely incredible - the Russos are cinematic geniuses. Probably in my top 5 movies. I was in tears.

Speaking of the Russos, currently bingeing Community. Well worth a watch if you haven't already.
