The Movie "Greyhound"

Post by bbattle » July 14th 2020, 2:28pm

I've been reading about this new Tom Hanks movie "Greyhound" and it looks to be another hit.

I watched a trailer but was unable to see any watches on Tom's wrist.

What sort of watch would a WWII Navy man be wearing and when will there be a homage and/or movie tie-in watch made?

Please don't let invicketer have the rights to such a treasure.

In terms of USN-issued watches, there weren't many. Divers would have been equipped with the BuShips (Bureau of Ships) "canteen divers," pilots would get the FSSC-88-W-800, which is basically the naval version of the A-11, and the rest of the personnel... Dunno, maybe an R88-W-800 spec?

Streamed it Monday on Apple+ and it was like watching a bad DVD. Will try again tomorrow and hope for the best. From what I was able to watch between the stop and go of the movie, looks pretty good. Also going to watch old guard on netflix this evening.

I have nothing to offer. Rotten Tomatoes seems enamored of the movie. Personally I'm "subscriptioned out". Netflix, Prime and Disney will just have to do. Apple+, CBS All Access, Peacock and whateverthefuckelse would make it unmanageable.

But I'm geeky enough that, given a choice, I'll just wait for season 2 of the Mandalorian.
