In that same vein, I am always annoyed by the inappropriate substitution of "less" for "fewer".
That's a good one. A lot of people do not know the difference between the two words.

Fewer calories means less taste. (don't get me started on diet beer or the pathetic attempts at beer like Michelob Ultra. Ultra what? Ultra crappiness? )

Fewer describes quantity; less describes quality.

Watching my father worry about this forum and whether it is worth his time anymore.

Listening to people say things like “more better” or betterer.

Reading dumb posts asking to see photos of your cat or something else.

Being asked if dad is my real dad.

Having men be astonished that women have brains and make more than they do.
My Dad kicks ass and takes no prisoners, he is a Watchlord!

Whatis wrongwith compoundwords any ways? You guys are haterz.
Quite so. You Teutons have made compound words into an art form. Viz. and to wit: Bezirksschornsteinfergermeister - Head district chimney sweep. What a grand and euphonious title for such an humble occupation. Or, this beauty - Rindfleischetikettierungsuberwahungsaufgabenubertragungsgesetz - the law for the delegation of beef monitoring. Nothing ungeheuerlich about that!

As much as we complain there's some "loan words" that just work better in German. Backpfeifengesicht perhaps chief among them and, of course, Schadenfreude.

Yet this is what we tend to quote:

Yes. My understanding has always been that fewer should be used when describing an amount that can be counted and less when it cannot.

Another one that annoys me to no end: "The proof is in the pudding!" No, it frigging isn't. What in the hell would that mean anyway? Did someone hide Col. Mustard's murderous candlestick in the dessert or is it like the silver gimcracks cooked inside a Christmas plum pudding? If so, what exactly would that be proof of - that you're going to be facing a large dental bill? No, the proof of the pudding is in the eating! In other words, the quality of the dish is determined by how good it tastes - or, to widen the application, the quality of an item is determined by how well it works.

It's my understanding that "begs the question" is misused. It does not mean "raise the question" but is rather a reference to a circular argument. But the specifics elude me which means it falls short of a peeve and moves hesitantly into the "well we know what was meant" category.

I believe "exception that proves the rule" has been misused to the extent that it may now be deployed incorrectly with impunity. Much like "literal" is now in the dictionary as meaning the exact opposite of literal.

Language evolves and more often than not leaves me behind.

Any kind of Stolen Valor
Lack of common sense
Just Blindly following someone just because you always followed
Lack of patience
Being 20 minutes late and trying to jump in front of people who were thoughtful enough to show up early or on time.
Snowflakes on both sides see blind.
People who think they are more important then the next guy
Open racism
Grifters
Liars
Whining about things you can’t control
Going 20 in a 45 zone unless your 70 then it’s ok
Constant droning on and on about the same subject aka beating a dead horse
People who walk down the middle slowly. Get the hell out of my way I know where I am going.
People who think their boss actually cares about them and their personal lives
People who smile and lie straight to you face and walk away laughing
Beggars at every corner and 99% of them are doing it for drugs not help.
Waiting for someone to show up and they are late by 30 minutes with no real excuse
Did I mention stolen valor.. oh yeah I did

- Being charged Washington State sales tax despite purchasing items from a different state.

- Member needing to be the first to start a daily thread (which has been discussed negatively amongst others privately).

- Waiting two months for a custom camshaft grind, only to find out it was ground wrong (incorrect lift & duration)...... and the replacement cam taking yet another two months.

- Parking lot delivery not available on all in-store items.

- Dry turkey breast (my bad).

- Piston sets with missing rings and/or circlips.

- Forum bromances. Unbecoming of a true lord and seriously GAY.

- Smellody's Rolex collection.......... because I'm jealous.

- IWB's collection.... because I'm jealous of it also

Welcome to the watchlords liberal echo chamber.

I get peeved when advertisers and tv talking heads find a new word and then use it for everything.

These days, everything has been carefully curated for you. Last year, people just picked stuff out for you. Or maybe they selected or chose or found something. They damn sure didn't curate it.

I like this one.

People who use that word can curate my Johnson.
Best of luck to all my longtime friends here. Please stay safe, always.

I do not drink bit I see your point.

Yep!

- Being charged Washington State sales tax despite purchasing items from a different state.

Hey someone has to pay for that coach at Washington.

Somehow I think you probably have skin as thick as mine when it comes to that.

- Waiting two months for a custom camshaft grind, only to find out it was ground wrong (incorrect lift & duration)...... and the replacement cam taking yet another two months.

Bummer, I would make them get it done faster or piss on their front door.

- Parking lot delivery not available on all in-store items.

- Dry turkey breast (my bad).

Bummer, I had cornish game hens and they were good.

People who are mean for sport; in real life and on the internets.

Shit-stirrers/drama queens

People who cannot handle navigating a traffic circle
