The piece tries to be fair, but it's littered with errors; one was calling the 8926's innards "a Swiss automatic movement" even while noting its an NH35 later, and cites the 200mm water resistance claim as if has even a remote chance of being true.

Never heard of Romeo before this, but I apparently haven't missed a whole lot.

He still does better reviews than a certain other blogger we all know.

As one of the original Invicta exposers with the good sense to git while the gittin was good I have to say that I never had a bad one. Still have a couple early examples that are still running well after 15+ years. One thing about current Invicta devotees is that they still like watches, no matter how big and hideous. IMHO a step above Smartwatch wearing millenials.

Water resistance is not achieved by the screw down feature of the crown. The part referring to Tritium is also, mildly speaking, a bit blurry. I am not going to bother reading more from him, but do agree, overall a nice compendium.

Saying you should buy an Invicter because it's cheap is akin to saying that screwing a $20 whore is OK since, well, you didn't spend more.

Here's the thing: if you have a choice between doing business with a company that stands behind its product, treats its customers well, and believes in things like quality, or tradition, or craftsmanship, or you can do business with a company that is completely opposite, then which company would you choose?

Fuck cheap, fuck bloggers, and fuck Invicta.
I find tv watches to be like the guys who raise their truck you need a fricken ladder to get in. It’s a attempt to look cool... that’s all.

His source on Flame Fusion also slept through science class in elementary school.

There is no sapphire to be found anywhere or in any quantity on Flame Fusion. Though, being merely a trademark, invicter reserves the option to use sapphire should the mood strike them. Thus far it hasn't - they call sapphire "sapphire" oddly enough.

Every hobby has its myths. But few are as stupid as saying "sapphire coating". It doesn't "coat". It can be laminated but hasn't been in some time. They make it sound like crystallized aluminum oxide can be put in a rattle can to be sprayed on a crystal, your windscreen or a fucking park bench. Still science fiction in 2019.

Umm..no.

For instance, they offer a lot of sub-100$ watches that are equipped with technology usually found on timepieces worth 300$+. The Invicta 8926 is the perfect example: it packs a Swiss automatic movement, a display case back, 200m of water resistance, all that for under 80$.

Well noted, hawk and kev.

Invicta's a fucking joke. Always has been, always will be. The review didn't even touch on the Swiss scam that they finally got de-pantsed by.
