Well, no... it would be very difficult and completely pointless for Seiko to construct Swiss auto / mchanicals. That said, their Japanese movements are as good as anything out there.

Meh. I would take a GS over most 'fine' swiss autos.

Although having owned Swiss watches and aspiring to others in the future, I'm quite the unreconstructed Seiko fanboy. And while brand/nationality comparisons/competitions is a worthy sport, it never has been my cup of tea.

So I uncharacteristically wade into this to offer the humble observation that nobody makes a Seiko like Seiko does. Their institutional definition of perfection differs in some regards from that, considered collectively, of Swiss watches. Seiko is far from batting 1000 by their own standard, but when they meet it, they undoubtedly do their thing with as much unalloyed dedication and commitment as any other watch manufacturer in the world. They are not an unserious or vapidly shallow institution.

That being said, I can certainly accept and appreciate, without prejudice, that Seiko hold no appeal for many or even most. There is every kind of bird in the WIS forest and that is a good thing.
