Requested Introductory Info
Live near Lancaster PA, original home of Hamilton watches. Not far from the National Watch and Clock Museum in Columbia, which I've enjoyed visiting and recommend to others.

My Great grandfather was a watchmaker and jeweler for over 60 years, he had his own shop and decided to retire after he struggled with a mainspring at the tender age of 89.
One of my earliest fascinations was his black dialed Ventura, which I thought was the coolest watch ever. (It might have been a pacer) As a watchmaker he was not as enamored with it, as it was a bit of a pain to maintain and keep running. Anyway, saw a post on here about the Ventura and that prompted joining.
My earliest personal watch, featured Smoky the Bear and a moving shovel. I did acquire a Ventura a few years ago and wore it back and forth to work for a few months just because I always wanted one. Left it running on its side in a drawer when on vacation a couple of years ago, and that seemed to throw it off a bit. (In hindsight, probably should have pulled out the stem while it wasnt being worn). Took it to a local jeweler, requesting they take a look at it after they assured me they "had a guy" who worked on them but after a few weeks a manager called and suggested I trade it in on a new one, so now it is back in a desk drawer. I did pick up a men in black style one for my daughter a couple of years ago and she reports wearing it on occasion. Anyway I'm rambling, I am more of a computer guy than a watch guy but thought I would join your group. Thanks.
