Lords and Ladies,

Please welcome my pal Milfrider. I've known him for many moons and our children grew up together. I knew his wife and was her friend in high school. My oldest and their youngest daughter became best friends in kindergarten.

My wife was picking up our daughter and had been working in the yard and was wearing my West Linn High School sweatshirt and that sparked a friendship that endured multiple road trips to California for Disneyland, Six Flags, the redwoods. You name it.

You are probably wondering about the name. ..

We started a motorcycle gang. He had a big burbly Kawasaki, our friend had some Ducati road bike, and I had my first Ducati Monster.

I wanted our gang to be called the Forest Hills Way NW Motorcycle Enthusiasts Club... he had other ideas. . .and t-shirts made.

Anyhow. He was with me at the original meet up at Bentleys Bar and Grill with Mark and John and Alain and all the other PACNW Watchlord crew back in the 00s.

He likes Seiko and other watches, but I'll let him tell you. . .

Thanks Smellody and all for your kind words and warm welcome.

Back when the ‘club got started and interest was growing to wear our colors, we had to develop standards and level of membership. It began with an “A” class rider. Smellody was one, he had a nice bike, a nice wife and all were jealous. We never admitted a “B” class, but let’s just say no bike and they had to ride behind someone else. No members were a taker to be snuggled as we road. We had a youngster class “C”. These guys had bikes and cubs to the cougars. We were an equal opportunity club and had a few female Milfriders as well.

I have a small selection of watches that are primarily divers and are not too expensive because I keep smacking them on rocks, logs or my desk. I tend to window shop the watches Smellody acquires and collect cans and coupons for just one more beater.

My last purchases were a Gevril and a Swatch Moonwatch. I do like Japanese watches, Swiss watches and I am sure I have some Chinese made fake-Swiss stuff. I just inherited my great grandfather’s pocket watch and I looking forward to try and get it running.

My first watch as an adult was a Seiko quartz chronograph, think a 39mm unit with a blue face. I began to appreciate the craftsmanship when I picked up the most basic, simple Zodiac. It led me to a couple more of those.

It has been several years since I was involved and look forward to the ribs, advice and comradely.

Still get an invite to ride with them though, no strings attached.

It should be noted that many rides were destination focused. Like the outlet mall or for a really good deep fried porkchop.
