New from Mass

Post by Masshole » April 13th 2021, 8:48am

Hi everyone!

Thanks Alain for helping me out with registration.

A little bit about me ....
Born and raised in Massachusetts, and I’m ready to make the plunge, pack up and move to the west side of Florida. Coming up on 30 years in EMS is enough to make anyone from here a “masshole”. Truthfully ive enjoyed taking care of people most of my working life.
Ok, enough with the boring shit and thanks for suffering through that.

I am a huge Hamilton fan above all. I own 2 intramatic pandas, and 4 Ventura’s which are my favorite design. I have almost al of the Ventura’s from the men in black movies. Plus anything Elvis loved is ok by me. I loved the Hamilton 1968 panda that koimaster posted about. I immediately fell in love with that watch.

About a month ago I signed up at WIT forum. I got a warm welcome from a bunch of them as I stated in my welcome post that I am not a fan of invicta for various reasons. I think I am just going to deactivate my account there. Nothing against them but the forum seems way too focused on the tv brand watches to me. Their Hamilton posts were fine but I guess I just don’t get the fascination with the tv brands. The designs are fucking disgusting to me and I have no idea where they are going with their brand. Just don’t get it. I have a couple of older invicta divers I bring to Aruba twice a year just to beat on, and that’s it.

Anyway I’m glad to be here as you guys seem to be focused on better watches. I’d love to step out of the box and start looking at different brands but honesty, I’m lost there. I have no idea what’s great for the money, what’s a rip off for the money, and so on. So I look forward to learning from you guys and maybe I can expand and get something different.
I will say the seiko the Ed Harris wore in Apollo 13 really caught my attention. I think that would be something I’d love to add to my small collection.

Anyway thanks all for reading. I hope I didn’t force any of you into a massive cardiac episode with all my drivel. It’s nice to be here.

Stay safe!

Ps. My spelling sucks ass so you guys will be having a field day on me for sure.

Welcome to the forum. Several Hamilton fans here including myself. My daughter owns a Ventura and I own a couple of Hamiltons as well.

Welc. Something tells me you will fit in fine here though I would suggest you tone down the bad fucking language.

Nice collection. Chronomatt who drops by once in awhile is also a huge Ventura fan.

I do like they white strap on the Ventura. Normally I don’t wear while but I think it looks great on that watch.
Surprisingly the blue panda pic was the only time I’ve worn that watch. I bought both colors because I couldn’t decide. Once I got them, the off white dial is my favorite. Now I have a brand new intramatic sitting in the box in my closet. I have no idea what to do with it

Welcome!

I keep a modest collection of affordables, and I love Hamilton. The Thin-O-Matic on the left was the first watch I bought that I consider a "nice watch."

Those Intra-Matic chronos... damn... one of these years...

Love them all. Thanks for sharing. If you’re ever interested in the blue panda I may as well just sell mine. Just pm me if interested.

Welcome Masshole. Nice to have some fresh blood around here. How'd you hear about this place?

Are those Venturas vintage, modern, or both?

Do you have a song that helps you get over a break-up? (Asking for a mate)

Fresh blood is here. Lol. Thanks for the welcome.

All my Hamilton’s are modern. I’d love to start poking around at some vintage watches. I think I’m old enough now.

I found you guys and WIT at a forum called watch freeks. That was just a google search. Honestly I was reading through some threads and came across watchlords. So I’ve been reading through a lot of posts here and it just seems like This place is for me. Trust me I know how corny that sounds. Some of the threads I was reading there seems hostile and I deal with enough stress every day.
This place from what I’ve seen there’s no bull shit. I’d rather be around people that will just tell me to fuck off if I’m out of line and be done with it.

The WIT forum is the only one I signed up for. They popped up when I googled watch forums. And like I said earlier, I’ll be deactivating my account. Nothing against them but I don’t think they are a good fit for me.
My apologies to anyone here if they are a member. Please know I mean no disrespect to you.

Most excellent. WIT, or as we call it, WIT-less, offers little for people with an IQ above room temperature. Sure, there are a few there who can tie their shoes and not rely on Velcro closures, but most of the membership there will never cure cancer. I joined there once, like a WIS Albert Schweitzer trying to bring enlightenment to an otherwise Dark Continent. I also wanted to break balls a little bit. Needless to say, I was banned forthwith. Banned. Can you imagine it? Me, conjurer! Banned! Never conjurer, goddamn you!! Anyway, welcome to the deep end.

Now, watch your step or fuck off!!

Welcome to watchlords. I may not be a fan of the whole Ventura series, but Hamilton is hard to beat in their bang for the buck. Good honest watches, marketed and priced honestly.
