Expatriates from Kali

Post by tomsimac » September 2nd 2019, 6:37am

Just thought I would post I’ve moved. Please update your contact list, Mail can now be sent to Missouri

Yeah, I left Orange County, Ca. Lovely Yorba Linda to be close to grandkids.
We drove through Arizona, Utah, Colorado and Kansas. What an eye opener.
Most landscape was surreal. Colorado mountains a joy.
Anyway, just posting as I’m curious to know anyone’s opinion. I was 100% against it, now I’m
Glad and impressed with the beauty of the country. The way people treat you in the Midwest
It’s great

Just to be honest, the reason was my grandkids, both born deaf.... so kids uprooted just to provide proper schooling. Missouri impressed me with how they treat this. Also the Moog Institute in Town and County
Is maybe the best in the world for mainstreaming kids, no sign language. For me I will miss the friends
Who warned me not to go... not all of course, but totally happy in Midwest and living in rural area

Biggest thing other than humidity is getting used to all this green landscaping. No more brown lawns
And over crowding. I can count twenty cars on the freeway most of the time.

Ok, I just thought it might be interesting to some. Point is there is a lot of beauty left in the US.

You are not alone, people are fleeing California and Washington in droves.

We are looking for property in one of the northern states for a summer cabin.......and will be living way south of the border during the winter months.

Enjoy your new surroundings and quality time with the kids Tom.

Lived in KC, Missouri for 22 years and would go back in a second. People, food, location cant be beat, a hidden gem no one talks about.
NRPI here.

Missouri? That's part of that seldom heard from "fly over" part of the country. Well ssshhh - don't broadcast how beautiful it is or how welcoming all those "backwards non-coastal" folks can be - or everybody will be going there! Congrats on your move and best wishes for all in your family.

I never got the point about living in Southern California anyways. However You got me curious about the food now. I thought it was all about country fried stuff with gravy and biscuits. Yikes.

@Gerdson:

Missouri is not Alabama or Mississippi. Missouri is bbcue country.

@tomsimac:

My younger son went to school in St. Louis and we visited several times. People are really nice and Town and Country is really the high rent district. I believe Bob Costas, Dan Dierdorff, Ozzie Smith, and a host of Budweiser executives live there.
