Watchlords

Hello everyone,

I wanted to introduce myself and tell you all a little about what brought me here. I have been a watch enthusiast for 30 years and it started with my love of the styling and beauty of the pieces. Over the last 10 years I have become more interested in the technology and complications of these little works of art. I have been active on watch forums for a little more than 5 years and have quite a bit of knowledge I hope will be useful here and hope to gain some more in the process. Most of my time in the last year has been spent on VRF and TRF (same member name as here).

Now let’s talk about what brought me here…  as I have said I have been an active forum member for over 5 years, but I have never found someplace I can call home. most of the forums I have visited are very political and the rules are prohibitive hell the first forum I joined cost you $10 a month to remove the curse censor from your posts (I am a Sailor and tend to say things that would offend most pussies). I am looking for what everyone wants; freedom to speak their mind while talking to like minded people about things they love. I had never heard of the site who has caused so much drama for a lot of you here until a couple of weeks ago when I was looking  for a more open forum, but Google research of that forum led me to a post here by Koi and after reading through the posts here I wanted to see if I could fit in… enough of that.

I live in Kentucky, obviously love watches, enjoy Makers Mark (often),love guns and knives (another reason I am here as they are banned subjects at other forums), I use this username across most of my internet forums including corvette forum, instagram is jackw3bb if anyone uses instagram. I would glad to talk to anyone who is interested or wants to know more.

I fold it in half and send some down both sides but the head is mostly on the right. Otherwise it gets pinched when I bend my knee.

I agree, I have a 96 Collector Edition. I saw your what are you wearing post today... what are you driving?

04 C5 with a Callaway package. Just put new tires on it today. Running Bridgestone GForce Super Sports non run flats. My last set went 33k miles according to the shop. When I ran run flats if I went 15k on a set of tires @ about$2k a set I considered myself very lucky. I keep a can of green slime in the car for flats but I have been lucky enough not to have had one in the last 4 years.

I’m not looking forward to tires I drive less than 10k miles a year and haven’t had to change in the last 3 but it will be soon. I see you are from Oregon I lived in Beaverton before I came to KY I went to work for Intel when I left the Navy in 05.

Intel is a good company to work for. I have a client who is a research analyst there 4 days a week and is the IT guy for another company part time. I have never heard anything bad about them although I cannot say that about the Navy. 

I am pretty sure my late wife's cousin Larry might object to that statement. He retired as a Master Chief about 20 years ago. He was on the Forrestal when she caught fire.

Woodford Reserve… don’t think I have tried that unless I was drunk and they were out of Makers. If you are feeding your GTO Vetts has it cleared up any of the rust holes yet?

yep, I was thinking of the GTX.

400 block bored and stroked to 462.  Balanced and blueprinted.  Aluminum from the heads up, high performance everything.   appx. 600+ hp.  not your daily grocery getter.

That's almost 300 more than I have but the Vett still makes the bitches wet. That GTO probably weighs half a ton more too.

Welcome aboard, JW...are you a fan of SGT. Friday's, or perhaps, a supporter of the rapid LAPiD?   Maybe both?

I'm retired from the US of N, after 26 rather 'interesting' years...there are a few other squids here of various ranks and communities; they're pretty good guys, though there's this one who...oh, hell...never mind; you'll find out about him on your own...

I'm an old Brown Shoe, myself; I started off as a very happy SLUFF Driver, where I spent the vast majority of my flight hours.  I transitioned to the Hornet, but had only had a couple hundred hours with it when my flying career abruptly ended on 9/11/01.

Anyhow, you've arrived at an excellent place for learning about watches, not to mention passing along your own expertise to other members.  We stay away from politics here, for the most part; there is a forum here, called the Policy Room, but you have to ask to join it.  For me, it's a no-brainer; I keep my distance from it, as politics piss me off too quickly and too much...  

Again, welcome, and as one old salty bastard to another, I'm glad you're aboard...too much bloody damned USAF influence around these parts...
