Thanks, CM, it's great to be back with y'all...I've only gotten one Renalto since my uber-review of their then-new Beast with quick-change straps & bracelet. My most recent Renalto buy is a Beast with MOP dial and ETA 2824 auto movement.

I guess Codguy's avatar must've finally gotten to me, as I've been buying automatics almost exclusively since September 2012.

Again, thanks for the welcome, CW...it's amazing to be back!

All Hands ,Attention ON DECK! Navy Brass back on board! Please allow this ol'boats pipe you aboard. Concur,we owe Mr.Koi a hearty"thank you"
Did i tell you about the time(1966)when a us army birddog(piper) went down n. of dmz,as we were the only DD in area ,we steamed all night to be where he would meet us on the beach. The MWB crew and i headed for the location and there he was,not 300 ft.from exact point. Said he;d been running for 20 hrs. Could he read a compass!
Welcome back.Image
I tell this story because i feel its a good illustration of the quality of men that served in vietnam, i never knew the pilots name and he probably received no recognition for saving his own skin. He must have been 40+yrs where the average serviceman was 20+.The pay scales during that time were pathetic but it was a patriotic duty.

Oy, from your mouth to God's ear...! No, it's just a reproduction of the USAAF B-10 jacket that would have been worn by the crews of ENOLA GAY and BOCK's CAR. The name I chose to put on the jacket was Major C. W. SWEENEY.
Image
Sweeney's plane was 'down hard,' but he and his crew were chosen for their excellent performance during training, so the plane in command of LT Bock was 'borrowed' for the Nagasaki mission...

Many, many thanks, fats...I believe you are correct about the Koimaster - however, it's probably best not to spread that particular info too far... Image

Thank you, sir! (I will treasure it, as the 'evil penguins' - code name for the teaching nuns, most of whom were sadistic in one way or another - never gave me a smiley face or a gold star...this is a momentous day indeed, Fats!! Image )

DAMN, it's good to hear from you, Boats! Hope all is going well for you and yours.

Amazing story. That pilot came from an age when most of the WWII Vets had moved on, and the Korean War guys were starting to move toward their own mass retirements. Things like compass navigation and a whole lot of other seat-of-the-pants aviation tricks are not only no longer taught, but are actively 'discouraged' from 'on high' because it's better - and easier - to write a new Manual of Tactics, Techniques & Procedures...and I think it's time to wrap up this 'old gray falcon' speech.

Thanks for everything, Boats!

It's good to see the balance in the force restored.

Besides, there was something disconcerting about asking a "Pattaya vs. Phuket" question on one forum only to find it answered in another forum. My interest, of course, was purely academic insofar as it may have impacted the whereabouts of a former correspondent.

Many thanks, my friend...

Pattaya and Phuket are in reality training areas where our fighters learn some of the more 'gentle arts,' along with the location of every secret medical clinic in Chittagong Harbor...

I fully understand your academic efforts, and may the Force be with you.
