Hello from Chicago, IL

Post by guerreiro » September 21st 2024, 8:19pm

Thank you for accepting me into the forum.
My name is Rodrigo. I'm originally from Portugal but have been in the USA for the past 30-something years after living in Brazil for 11 years. As a kid, I also lived in South Africa and Angola. Fun times those years.

I've started a small collection this past year and have loved researching and discovering new brands.

The state of my collection is as follows:

CW C60 Pro 300 Bronze
CW C60 Trident Elite 1000 LE
Doxa 200 C-Graph
Mido Ocean Star 600
Ocean Crawler Core Diver Mop dial
Magrette Moana Pacific Professional Titanium
Deep Blue Juggy IV
Deep Blue Deep Star 1000 X2
Tissot Seastar 1000 GMT
Steinhart Triton 1000
Spinnaker Tessei Bronze

Obviously my niche is automatic divers with swiss movements.
Currently looking to purchase my first Tudor, a Pelagos LHD.

Looking forward to learning and sharing, cheers!

Glad to meet you, Rodrigo.

My best friend’s wife is Portuguese-Angolan. Born and raised there until age 14 when her family evacuated to Portugal in 1975, making their way to USA shortly thereafter.

Fun times by her description as well.
Thank you for the welcome. We too evacuated in 1975. I was only 3 years old but I remember sifting through piles of clothes, with my grandparents, that were left for the refugees. My dad was a colonel in the Portuguese military and stayed behind to fight the war. That's why we later moved to South Africa.

Thank you for the welcome. Agree and will keep the collection small. I want to have first-hand knowledge of these brands to better gauge their quality. So far, Christopher Ward is top tier in terms of fit and finish and overall a standup company. Waiting on my Tudor to arrive but am guessing it will be on par, if not better than CW. I've also noticed that microbrands, at least the ones I have listed, are of better quality than the Swatch group watches I've experienced, except for Mido. I'm enjoying the journey of discovery, cheers!

Welcome Rodrigo. Look forward to seeing your watches. Don't let the guys rough you up too much.
Haha, thank you, smellody ;)
I should have mentioned to mind the soap in the shower. Especially if Conjurer is on lifeguard duty. Just saying. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Nope, never sayd to have a small collection ---------> just a smaller collection of quality watches is more better than a large collection of cheap micro-brand trinkets.

Welcome to the Jungle; We got fun and games.
NRPI and Shitheel here.

If I am to be insulted I must first value your opinion.

Ciao Rodrigo!

That’s a pretty damn solid collection. Plus, they will all let you enjoy a lot of time in water…

You sound like a well-traveled dude - don’t be shy on post even crappy photos- though good images would be okay, too.

Welcome to the one watch forum without a nanny. Enjoy!
