John Hamilton & Co. London Swiss Made London Cased

Post by smellody » March 9th 2024, 4:51pm

My grandfather's name was John Hamilton. I was lucky enough to find his name on this 1860's 935 sterling silver London cased pocket watch.

It was serviced at one point in 1903. It supposedly ran, but I didn't get a key.

I told my watchmaker that I needed a key. He said he had my back.

He sent me a picture of his keys. 🗝 when did you last see something packaged in a wood box?

#4 key 🔑 for the win!
Key works to wind the spring and set the time.

Running perfectly 45 mins later. I didn't wind it too much.

What? Two of them?

Nice catch, man. How's she run?
I gave it six or seven winds. It was keeping accurate time seven hours later. Didn't want to overwind it.

But amazing that it still works.
