*All* economic valuations are subjective. All of them, no exceptions.
Not really. The market is supposed to be a mechanism for most efficent allocation of scarce resources. Jody-Wartche = Market Failure.
[edited] Let's leave what a market is "supposed" to be to the politics threads.

As for market failure: there is no market failure involved. No matter how bad an idea you think the watch is, but also (and important) no matter how good an idea others might think it is, you don't have to buy one--unlike as happens in command economies.

And yes, all economic valuations are subjective. As I repeat from my friend: "There is no such thing as a value apart from a *valuer*."

No. The market is supposed to be a place where people are free to trade as they wish.
That is a correct but extremely broad definiton of a market. Capitalism is supposed to be the most efficient mechanism to distribute scarce resources and allocate capital (refer Adam Smith). One of the requirements of a functioning capitalist market is perfect information. That is the polar opposite of some YouTuber spruiking AliBaubles for simps. Hence, market failure.

No. There is no requirement in capitalism (and for that matter, not much possibility, no matter what your ideology) for "perfect information."

Where did you find that nonsense assertion?

Sorry, got a bit confused (Economics was ever so long ago now). It's a requirement of perfect competition, not capitalism. So yeah, if one needed a product that epitomises how capitalism can be a waste of time and resources with laughably poor outcomes, one couldn't find a much better subject for one's dissertation than the Enema Wartche.

Capitalism, Smapitalism. These look like shit. If you want something like this, buy a Deep Blew and shut-the-fuck-up when it fills with water after a dip in your pool.
The very first thing I thought when I saw them is: pick from the hands catalog, pick from the cases catalog, pick from the dial catalog...but that's most micros. And some might think the watch is worth it just to support Jody, and I have zero issue with that, either. Not my choice, but hey, differing taste is just differing taste.

One of the things I like best about some micros like Atelier Wen, Vario (so far as I know) and a few others is that they bring something somewhat fresher than that to the table.

(And no one sensible promises or even expects perfect competition, jason).

Correct. Which was used to explain to us why capitalism, which works great - nay, perfectly (see what i did there  ) - in theory, often fails in practice (something which blindly dogmatic "Yay, capitalism! YAY!!!" types would do well to consider). Enema Wartche being just one, albeit perfect, example of said failure of capitalism and the free market (Rothschild being the classical example). Hence, the wartche, and it's ilk, and shysters pushing such fucking pieces of crap, suck donkey arse. Endo, fatso (that's Latin for "I win this argument", or some such  ).

Yep, absolutely, and I'm the first to support the micros I see out there doing their own thing and adding creativity, diversity, innovation, and value to the market.
