PP family and friends doesn't avoid fees, it passes them to the buyer and avoids accountability if the sale goes wrong.

Regardless, really nice watch and GLWS

Thanks for the info! Is the fee only if you use credit or a bank account rather than funds in a PayPal account?

I’ve never been charged a fee by sending F&F, but I had adequate funds in my PayPal account so I didn’t dip into my credit or bank account. If anyone wants it but would be charged fees, or is concerned about accountability, I’ll accept $300 goods/services. I don’t want a buyer to have fees or any concerns!

Thanks,
Scott

Not sure of the fine print re fees not being charged if you have enough funds in the account. Generally its used to push transaction fees to the buyer.

The bigger problem with F&F is that the buyer is essentially indicating to Paypal that the transaction was a swap/gift between friends rather than a commercial sale. This means forfeiting any buyer support from Paypal if the watch isn't up to specification and they wanted to return it and get a refund.

I get not wanting to forfeit the protection. In the future I’ll make it optional if someone makes an offer that is significantly lower than my listed price,.
For example if my bottom line is $300 with me absorbing the fees and someone offers $290 I’ll reply “I’ll do $290 if you’re comfortable sending it friends and family - if you’re not comfortable with that I need to get $300.” I’m not trying to avoid responsibility, but I’ve sold to repeat buyers quite often and they know that they can trust that the watch will be as advertised. I’d never make f & f a requirement, just a negotiation tool if someone would rather pay a little less than get the protection PayPal offers. I started offering that as an option after a couple of buyers made offers along the lines of “how about I pay $300 f & f?” If anyone is ever interested in something I’m selling I won’t require f & f and I’ll provide plenty of references, including respected members of this forum. In fact, I found this forum when a couple of members mentioned it after buying from me.

I appreciate you bringing it up - I want anyone who buys from me to feel comfortable and when the watch arrives to feel like they got a good deal.

Hopefully I’m done! It’s getting too expensive to buy new and sell used. I have two on the way, but these I bought pre-owned.

Waiting to see how many more "new" watches you are flipping.
:221:

Riddle me this.... do you purchase multiples of the same watch to determine which one you like best?

Sorry, the question was below the popcorn eaters so I didn’t read it - I thought it was part of a signature.

A lot of times I buy one and like it enough that I think I’ll like it as much in another color, so I order the other color. Sometimes it works, and sometimes one of the colors doesn’t do it for me once I see it in person. For example, I have the ML Pontos in grey, silver, and green, and they’re all keepers. They have slight differences - the green is a 40mm day/date, the grey is a 41mm day/date, and the silver is a 40mm power reserve. The differences might be why they’re all keepers, I’m not sure. The incoming are a blue Davidoff (this will be my first Davidoff) and a Snowy Sky Nodus Retrospect (definitely not my first Nodus). Hopefully they’re both keepers, but I heard that Zelos is bringing back the Swordfish with a Dial like the v3 Mako, and when they do the Nodus might be put up for sale. If they offer the Swordfish with that style of dial and a stainless bezel I’ll be at the front of the line.

Thanks CC.

I too was not immune from purchasing multiples of a certain watch I liked.

Though my days of purchasing watches are over......I might make the exception for another Dubey & Schaldenbrand.
what! no Invictas or Stuhrling unoriginals! I thought all Naval guys gushed over those.

On track, nice watch, perhaps it is a keeper, if not, well there is always that other watch that caught your eye.
