Rolex Observatory Watch means the movement was "tested for 21 days, and adjusted to six positions and temperatures. Essentially the predecessor to today's chronometer certification.

Now I just need a case, syringe hand set, and a service. I thought about sending the dial to a guy in the UK πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ for a cleaning. But us growing on me. I love the indices and tract. The gold ring is also beautiful.

I think I have the syringe hands sorted.

There are some fine people in the vintage Rolex world that share my passion.
There are plenty of syringes to be found all over downtown Federal Way.

Fantastic project!
Cleaning a dial is not without risks. And it is typically not like it will turn out crisp and pristine. Had it done for a Universal Geneve Polerouter once.

If that expert in UK has good references You might give it a try. The dial does apparently not show physical damage or deeper chemical detoriation, and a gentle swab or soak with a proper fluid should not lead to damage.
However, leaving it like it is would also do it to me, but You may need to apply some "aging" to the hands, once You find them.
Ardnut since 1989

In twenty years or so, the German language will be one, massively long compound word.
