a couple of new watches

Post by Pete26 » July 29th 2024, 1:01am

I bought a GS Quartz GMT on sale recently and while I initially loved the watch like all things I soon tired of it and traded it for this.
The GS had lume on only 4 points which kind of annoyed me so my friend traded me an SBDX047, also known as the Uemura.

For this.

I also traded him my Mudman TLC
for a Benrus Type 1 re-issue.

I think I did okay.

Interesting trades. Who made the Benrus?
Benrus has been revived as a company for a couple of years now. The one I have is the first version with an ETA 2681, which historically has been used in smaller watches. Benrus wanted to stick with ETA movements rather than other types of movements. When the supplies dried up Benrus moved to Soprod, rather than Sellita. The originals had ETA movements as well.

I believe retail on these was around $1700 USD, pretty nice quality piece.
