Rolex 1630 Automatic NOT Oysterquartz

Post by smellody » November 16th 2023, 7:54pm

Today's pick-up. Rolex 1630. Before the Oysterquartz, Rolex had automatic versions of the Datejust and Day and Date in cases with integrated bracelets.

This 1630 is a one owner watch and came with inner box, papers, and booklets.

Dial is actually silver, but aged tona champagne color.

My friend Ignacio noted that it has a later Oysterquartz bracelet as the original 1630's bracelet would have had a center gold link. Bracelet number confirms this. Doesn't bother me.

Sticker still in place!

Noice - Interesting the bracelet got changed out given the full kit and even the protractive sheet still on the back. - They sure don't make electrostatic cling sheets like that anymore, by golly.
All of these were prototypes. The original bracelet for these had a center gold link that due to the design, very prematurely wore out.

Cool to know - it certainly looks classy.

Nice catch.
