New Welsbro

Post by smellody » March 6th 2023, 10:43pm

I've been after one of these since they were released last year. My pal Rich owns the Welsbro brand/trademark and has been creating some new watches out of dust.

This is the Italian Ices and is one of 30 watches produced in blue https://welsbro.com/collections/watches ... alian-ices

In Rich's words, "This watch is all about nostalgia.
♥ Heritage
The Italian Ices Automatic Watch is inspired by a heritage Welsbro piece from the 1940s (see above). The vintage "bullseye" Welsbro had a beautiful (and unusual for the time) colorway of copper and tan with bold radium filled Arabic numerals. We're stoked to reimagine one of our favorite vintage Welsbros.

Our version, Italian Ices, remains very much in the image of its predecessor — with a few modern updates. Hand-assembled in Japan, our watchmaker has introduced a larger stainless steel case, a brighter color scheme and an updated "roof" logo. Also included: "papers" artwork by illustrator Oscar Bastidas and two fresh handmade straps from Italy.

But it's not all new. In keeping with the nostalgic theme, Italian Ices is made with a vintage France Ebauches 4612 movement circa 1975. It is famously the same movement to power up the Heuer ref. 844. Pretty cool that this watch contains a physical piece of history."

Watch was packed in this lunch box. The artwork is pretty cool.

What, no thermos? I'll have to take a look at their site when I have time. Congrats on the pickup, I look forward to seeing that in person one day.
See you're WRONG I don't work at all, I'm a Democrat. The immortal Horse Feathers as spoken to Chucky Ninetoes.

I wonder when they might have more of these available.
I think the 30 of each color is all there will be for this model. I'll ask if there are more versions in the pipeline.
Thank you.
Rich at welsbro.com told me they have a pilot chronograph in limited production that should be available late spring.
