Seiko SLA043

Post by Pete26 » March 24th 2022, 9:02pm

I just got this in trade from a local watch friend and I must say I am very impressed with this 8L35 driven watch. It's the 55th Anniversary Prospex.

The watch has a lovely blue dial and light blue second hand, complete with a box sapphire crystal and adds a nice vintage feel to the watch.

the lume is standard Seiko brightness and at 39.5mm the watch is the perfect size for me.

Love the 8L35. What did you trade it for?
It is great, I traded my Speedmaster pro 3861 for this, a Doxa Sub 300 COSC, a Casio titanium Trantrixxi model and an Arctic Marathon SAR, he also threw in a leather watch roll and extra straps, over 10 grand worth of stuff so I came out ahead. he is suffering watch burnout and wanted one grail watch rather than a few watches. He lives quite close to me as well.

We both suffer anxiety and he has just had another kid and borrowed money for renovations. He wants to reduce his collection and I am figuring out what I want to do, but I now have more time to enjoy the hobby.

I will share my new acquisitions over the next few days. Now that I have retired I don't have a huge watch budget so a good trade works for me.

Pete, did you get the new MR-G square in that trade?
Close Toby, the Casio G-Shock GMW-5000TR-9 TranTixxi is a hardened polished titanium finish with multi-coloured titanium case and bracelet links.

Its close to the MRG, but a limited edition with sapphire crystal.

That's a keeper fer sure! We both operate a camera about the same too...
Thanks, you think the iPhone would take better pics, must be my shaky hands

Don’t worry about your pictures, mine suck so bad. The harder I try the worse they look.
Good negotiations with that haul.
In memory of TB/Phfluff, since he isn’t here to continue to give his praise, I will share it for him.

Congratulations on your retirement! This stage of your collecting is entering a different phase? “It beats workin’!”

That seems like a great trade between two conscientious enthusiasts. Really, as you know, you want whatever is in your send-off to be going to a good custodian. Rather than a damn flipper.

On that Seiko - DAMN! Love the blue. And the waffle band completes the vintage vibe…. While that glow of the sapphire hints of more modern engineering.

In be-wheeled terms: it looks like a {Nissan JDM} ‘Skyline’, while powered by ‘GTR’ hardware!

Nuvolari APPROVES!
