islander isl 50 incoming
Ordered the islander isl 50. I have had 2 skx's in the past but due to the seiko quality control I got rid of them. Issues like dust and dirt on the dial, chapter ring out of alignment, the crown rubbing against the guards to name a few. But for me ,the xkx case is the perfect size shape and feel while on the wrist . So here we go again with Marc's take on the skx as a hommage piece.

Good looking watch. I agree about the issues in regards to Seiko. In the past few years they seem to have outsourced QC to elves in Nambia.

It has been a challenge, the turtle i bought a year ago,had to have a blob of glue removed by the chapter ring. Unacceptable in my view.

Chapter ring is the worst I’ve had but this is likely a better watch in several regards. Congrats.

That's racist! Pretty sure Namibian elves could align a chapter ring.

Good looking Watch, I’ve always like the 4-o’clock crown.
I’ve never had an issue with any Seiko that I didn’t create. I’ve jacked up a few in modifying them - but a few have also been successful. I still have about a dozen or so - no complaints.

Nice looking watch. I’ve had my eye on a good priced used isl 89. I’m in my scouring reviews mode right now.
Is your islander heavy? That’s my main concern about them, I don’t like heavy watches.

heavier than a seiko skx due to the solid links but not noticable and bracelet very comfortable.

Re: islander isl 50 incoming
I have been pleased enough with my Islander that I gave my SKX007 to my grandson-in-law(he really likes the orange dial).
The only trouble I have had with the Islander is one of the pins on the bracelet came out. I had a replacement and it has not caused any trouble.
Great watch for the price.

I really like this watch. Running 2 +sec but will know more in a month when it loosens up. I see this as my daily and I'm taken with Marc's field watch offering.

Wow! Looks way better in your pic than the stock photo. I'd ditch that bracelet and put it on textile or black rubber.

Were any of them produced outside of Japan? If so, that's a pretty good run.
