On its way to me...

Post by MKTheVintageBloke » May 29th 2020, 1:47pm

It so turned out, that this year I've got a modest tax return. So, what better way to celebrate than to use it to treat yourself to a watch, in honour of all the days you've worked your arse off?

Initially, I thought of getting a Tissot Le Locle Powermatic 80, or a Certina DS-2 in full titanium. With my discount, any of the two would be perfectly within range.

However, I swore a sacred oath to not let the SG have a penny of my earnings. I mean, I can retail their stuff. That's the nature of my work. But when it comes to my hard-earned money, I won't have the Swiss Mr. Creosote straight outta Monty Python to have a penny of it. Fuck them.

So, I did what I usually do, the thing that made me who I am in the first place. I am the Vintage Bloke. I went vintage. Reached out to a buddy and fellow collector, and the result is on my way to me now. As a part-dough, part-barter, I've traded in my Moeris GSTP. Watches and money changed owners, and how soon will I get to wear the new one depends on the prowess of the Royal Mail, and - Jove have mercy - the Polish Snail Mail.

If you wanna guess what it is, you're free to do so. With an exception for one - I've told ya, so don't spoil the fun of guessing

Vintage from Poland is all we get, eh? All right, I’ll start.

Longines
Nope. Was an option, and the tech side of it got the edge, but the alternative just got my heart.

G-Shock.
Nope. Although I confess to liking the GX-56BB. Certifiably loopy, but cool. Maybe some other time.

Does the Oh-meeguh look like a pie pan??
Nope, it's not a Pie-Pan Connie. Same era, though.

I'll bet that Dr. Smells has gold furniture in his house, too.
I find tv watches to be like the guys who raise their truck you need a fricken ladder to get in. It’s a attempt to look cool... that’s all.

Mr. DeVille, are we ready for our closeup...?
WatchGeeks will go down in watch forum history as the worst watch related site that existed. Trolls, threats, bannings, and owners and sponsors talking out of their collective asses to fleece people out of hard earned money. - Koimaster

Not a De Ville. There is one thing about it that it has in common with the De Ville line, though.

As a brief update, looks like the Royal Mail found some sense in them to get a courier company instead of the Polish Snail Mail as their delivery service for UK-PL parcels. Too bad it's GLS - they're not horrible, but GLS doesn't tend to update their tracking regularly, so their tracking hardly ever reflects reality.
