So the Dog and I went to shake the cobwebs out of the Shadow, again, and traveled along the Old Altamomt Highway, near where the ill-fated Rolling Stones [et. al.] Altamont ‘free concert’ occurred. We ended up stumbling onto a previously-unknown-to-me park in the Livermore hills and stopped for an impromptu hike.

The contrast in lighting was stunning - as, it turns out, was the ascent.

So - here are some images I captured while The Dog and I were goofing off today.

Nice! How close to the actual track were you able to get to on your excursion?

Also, kinda curious why the Hells Angels were not listed as Special Guests as well

A few years ago my daughter and I were told in no uncertain terms to leave the premises as it was “private property, verdamnit!”
It seems they did not appreciate my spirit of adventure when I found an unlocked gate and drove into - and onto - the facilities.

It’s a short multi-configuration oval with a 1/4 and 1/2 mile track within a track so the laps can be quick and disorienting. And in a mid-engine car you can never be sure where that threshold of phenomenal grip ends in a spin - they don’t ‘talk to you’ like a PROPER rear-engines sportscar.

So, yeah - a pick up truck also entered the track with its driver gesticulating madly and it was clear that the track wasn’t entirely abandoned after all.
So, we DID, as they had requested, “get the hell out of [there]”.

I think the Hells Angels had requested to be excluded from the ‘other’ headliners so they wouldn’t have to claim the beer & cigarettes as ‘income’ for security and head-bashing services.
