I don't know why it would. We were brac(ked) in 2000, and converted to a refueling squadron. In 2006 we were bracked again, and the tankers reassigned to other bases. I blame both results on impotent congressional representation. A pararescue contingent remained there when I retired in 2007, but with no aircraft there was little they could do. I don't know if they are still there or not.
