Invicta "Swiss factories" timeline

Post by CA Crew » November 11th 2010, 8:23pm

Feel free to add!

IF MD deigns to reveal the address of Invicta’s “Swiss factory” to the kids, it’s this one:

Invicta CH S.A
Route de l’hotel de ville 2
1344 L’Abbaye De Lac de Joux
Vallee de Joux, Switzerland
Fax: (021) 841-14-20

1. From our own(?) Randy quoting Watches Int’l VII, 2002) "The Invicta Watch Group has evolved into one of the fastest growing watch companies and moves key production from Chiasso to a new facility in L'Abbeye, Switzerland."
http://www.bdwf.net/forum/showthread.php?t=66894&highlight=invicta+swiss+factory+address

2. (Don’t know who emailed Claude Meylan.) From: Montres Claude Meylan ([email protected]) Sent: Mon 5/25/09 3:12 AM

Monsieur,
We use to work with the company Invicta in 2003, so some of the Invicta watches were made in our company. We do not work anymore with him. I am sorry, I can not tell you were the are made now!

(Link no longer live.)

(Note: I have private communication from Brequet saying 100 paces from them is Claude Meylan. Its exact address is the one Invicta gives as the address of its own factory.)

“New facility” and “new factory” imply this is a new building, rather than an existing one bought and remodeled. But that could be splitting hairs, esp. w/ English not being Eyal’s 1st language.

4. From a 2005 Invicta brochure:

Invicta CH S.A
Route de l’hotel de ville 2
1344 L’Abbaye De Lac de Joux
Vallee de Joux, Switzerland
Fax: (021) 841-14-20

5. 5/09, nous defions on WG:
Michael confirmed with Jim what we suspected to be the case, Invicta bought S. Coifman and Potger-Pietri in 2003. Shortly thereafter, Jim announced on air that the model Invicta he was showing at the time was the first Invicta to be made in the Coifman factory. So without confirmaiton from Invicta, and based only on logical assumption, it would seem reasonable that some Swiss Made Invictas are made at the Coifman facility. We weren't able to confirm one way or the other whether the same is true for Potger-Pietri.

5/09: Jim Skelton, same thread: “Invicta purchased two Swiss factories in 2003 and have been doing a lot of work through them (like the Reserve Collection).

This one from Koi in the same thread:
From one of their own releases. (No date or source given.)

“Upon moving primary operations from Switzerland, Invicta has continued to design watches, but have outsourced manufacturing to third parties in Switzerland and the Far East.”
http://watchgeeks.net/showthread.php?t=30769

6. 2007 "Interview" of JS on one of "The King's" websites - questions were softballs from worshiping fans, except for this one:

Does he know where the Invicta factories are??? Where are most of the non-Swiss made branded watches manufactured??

JS: "Invicta lists the address for their Swiss factory. They also own the S. Coifman Swiss factory as well….”
http://jholbrook.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Invicta&action=print&thread=17501

Maybe the address was on the site spring before last, but it's sure not now.

7. Invicta Montres S.A. closed in 2007?
The question is if Invicta is a real Swiss company, not where are the watches made. You can ask The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry, and the answer will be INVICTA MONTRES S.A. closed down in March 2007, so it is no more a Swiss registered brand.
http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?p=924038#poststop

8. 5/09, a WG:
… I have often heard during Invicta presentations that they are made in "their" factory in Switzerland. That could still be the fact even though the address given by Meijin isn't the one, as per your investigtion. Wonder why he didn't include that address in his response to this thread, instead of questioning the motives for the curiosity? [Note: Meijin gave the Claude Meylan address.]

I remember a lot of that information from various sources over the last several years. The bottom line for me is if Invicta actually owned Swiss factories we would all know exactly where they are and what they are making. Eyal, JS, and MD can't stop themselves from putting the best possible shine on Invictas products-often at the expense of the actual truth or reality. Any true bragging point (like actual Swis factories) would be beaten like a drum on the skulls of SNBC viewers.

I have posted photos of that site here on the forum. It is a hotel, with a business office in it which belonged to Meylan. The watches Meylan produced for Invicta were re-branded Meylan watches. They were sold as S.Coifmann

Also a repost of mine by someone. Invicta Montres SA was dissolved in 2004, another company purchased inventory and that was finally dissolved in 2007. Screen shots are on this forum somewhere as well as links. I really do wish people would attribute where they get this stuff.

MD is an asshole bully. At least he's earning the title.

He closes threads that threaten him on WG (Swiss Factory, why Renato forum was moved and more), but not before bashing the poor poster who asked the question. God forbid you reply at all, he will PM you with threats.

What an asshole.

Koi, belated thanks for filling in blanks in the time line and sources.

Even though we know Invicta's lying, it's fun to track them step by step on this one cuz for years, they've lied so consistently and have belittled people who have been curious or unsatisfied with Eyal-style non-responses.

To WG lurkers: Doesn't tell you everything you need to know about a company when you have to hunt down information about where their products are actually made?

It was I. I had a friend, from the 3rd Special Forces Group - who speaks fluent French - write the e-mail for me, and I sent if from my account. I had copied the contents of the e-mail to a thread on WGs and, mysteriously, all of that content disappeared as far as I know.

One thing I have to express here:

Everytime I read a WL thread where the members here try to dig up FACTS to get to the bottom of things only makes me respect this forum even more than I already do. This "small membership" site has already done consumers more good than the top five watch sites combined.

It shows what not having a conflict of interest can do. Well done by everyone involved; a tip of the cap hardly seems enough.

Bumpin' this up so the new influx of WGs can take a good look at the sleight-of-hand this company takes part in. Hey, WGs - not everyone writing about a topic is a "hater."

Bumpin' this again in honor of this weekend's Florida IWG super dooper TTV-laden mega live-from-the-yacht jerk fest.

So..those "Swiss Made" Invicta are made....where.....?

Seems odd doing a +1 on such an old thread but Mark is 100% on target. These guys would be playing this to the hilt if it really existed. Why didn't we see photos or videos of Temple and others visits to the factory while they were at Basel. Instead they shared photos of Schwarzenegger at their booth

I think the most telling non-example is when Invicta is at Basel. Turd head and the usual gang of idiots (apologies to MAD) are in Switzerland, at a watch trade show, taking pics and generally playing it up as proof Invicta is like Patek.

And yet they never visit any Swiss Invicta factories while there. Candid shots of a bleary eyed, rumpled homeless looking Turd head, but no photos of Turd head shaking hands with the infamous "top ten percent" of Invictas hamfisted "watchmakers".

Hey lurking Geeks: Any of you ever wonder why? No, of course not. Whatever happens, don't look behind the curtain.

The curtain got pulled back and exposed when Swiss-Gate broke and geeks began popping off case backs of "Swiss" labeled Invictas and found "China" ensribed on their movements.

But of course, Eyal, Turd head, Jim, Jill, and everyone else involved who said they were true Swiss Made watches meeting all Swiss Made guidelines but chose to use "Swiss" for visual que, were totally clueless that they had for years duped so many into buying a supposed Swiss Made watch that was as Swiss as General Tso's chicken.

Well, that Renata battery was Swiss, you know.

That post about Basel tells you everything you need to know about IWG. It's good to bring up such things at times like these; it only makes the shut-ins, seniors, and stoopids that comprise WG get what they richly deserve as they support a really bad company during another multi-day rub-it-in-your-face fest in Florida.

As I recall the average WG went from "My watch is Swiss Made and cheaper than the other Swiss brands" to "Who cares where they're made, only Eyal grants us the opportunity to buy such fantastic designs".

They even turned the lack of manufacturing into a defense of the Bestest Brand in the Known Universe. "The broken watches can't be Invicter's fault, they didn't make the movements".

BTW, just as an aside, I've seen no information that mike Turdling was at basel this yr (2012). After he attended last yr.,he talked about it, repeatedly, anytime I saw him on TV and posted numerous photos of himself at the show. This year, nothing? If I'm wrong, anyone, let me know.
