I have always just lumped ETA and Valjoux together.
With any movements, a lot depends on who's assembling, regulating, and casing them up.
Many of the problems I've seen, particularly with Seiko and ETA / Valjoux movements, is with those assembled from ebauches by a manufacturer or those outsourced for assembly by a manufacturer. QA, and subsequently, performance is far more likely to suffer in these instances, so it can be a crapshoot if a brand doesn't reveal who's assembling their watches - it can take a lot of homework.
