College Football Bowl Contest

Post by bbattle » December 5th 2022, 7:04pm

Hey, it's that time of year again; US college football bowl season.

Here's the game: pick the winners of each bowl game. At the end, the one with the most wins will win either a watch from my collection or a donation to the charity of your choice.

here's the list of games. Many have won just by selecting their favorite helmet design.

No fee to play. We're here to have fun!

The watch prize is a Dan Henry 1962: https://danhenrywatches.com/collections ... hronograph

It's a very nice watch, fits great on my wrist but due to my ever-growing collection, just doesn't see the light of day. I've got the box and stuff to go with it.

Or, you could opt for a sizable donation to the charity of your choice.

If I win, and I surely will, and the prize is a Smith Family donation, I'll match it up to AUD200.
You realize this is American football 🏈? Not ⚽️. Right!?

In America we toss around the old goat 🐐 skin and have players with tight ends and others who are receivers. You see, one of the line men hides the ball between his legs 🦡 🦡 and passes the ball to another player standing behind him patting his bottom as he bends over.

This is all enjoyed with beer 🍺 and pretzels with cheese πŸ§€

By the way, it looks like we have a fine line up of player contestants.

There is still time ⏲️!

.

Don't follow college ball enough to participate though I do have some win/lose preferences for various reasons.

Hoping they WIN
Utah (PAC-12 Champs)
Tulane
Kansas State
Tennessee
Washington
Washington State
Oregon State
TCU (go Horned Frogs)
Georgia

Hoping they LOSE--------- big
USC (Heisman posing showboat QB)
Texas (cuz they're playing Washington)
Oregon (cuz they're Oregon)
Alabama (Sabin)
Michigan (Harbaugh)
UCLA (Kelly)

jesse_recliner, you need to tell us who you think will win the championship.

The mighty Oregon Ducks are not in the running to win the whole thing. Or did you mean the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, the professional ice hockey team?

Goddammit it's hard enough keeping up with Aussie Rules, and now I've got to follow goddam NFL as well, except it's not NFL because you people have more than one bloody league! And I'm TOTALLY confused because I just googled College Football Oregon and it says the team is called the Ducks! Well, I circled 'Oregon' a bunch of times so whoever they are, the Mighty Oregon Whatevers for the Championship!

(with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks an outside chance. Sportsbet odds are through the roof but seems unlikely as they play a different sport and don't compete in this league)

Oh, wait. Do you mean that match at the end? I thought that was a placeholder, teams TBC, with the teams who win most bowl matches playing off in a final. So they are initials for actual teams? OK, gotta be Mich.

It does get confusing sometimes. Here in Alabama, we have U of A, the University of Alabama. And AU, Auburn University, also known as the Tigers, or Plainsmen, or Barners. Auburn fans throw toilet paper into some trees in town when they win a game. They also have an eagle as a mascot that flies into the stadium and lands on the turf before the game. There's also ASU, or Alabama State University. And then there's USA, or University of South Alabama. And UNA and UWA but I don't believe we have an UEA; I guess East Alabama must make do with Auburn. UAB, is University of Alabama-Birmingham; well known for its medical school. They are known as the Blazers which means they wear stylish jackets and/or smoke a lot of weed.

UAH, here in Huntsville, is jokingly called "University at Home" since so many students just live with mom and dad instead of on campus. Like Auburn, it's known for churning out engineers. UAH is involved in a lot of projects with the aerospace industry and department of defense.

Auburn is weird. Is it war eagles or tigers?

I’m a hairy dawg with a techie for a brother so I feel your pain

What do you call UAB?

Huntsville - I worked for Intergraph back in 90s, used to be a big deal there.

Deadline is almost here; the first game starts December 16, 10:30 central time USA. The Redhawks of Miami (Ohio, not Florida) will take on the Blazers of University of Alabama-Birmingham. Pretty sweet game for two teams that both went 6-6 in regular season. They are playing in the HomeTown Lenders Bahamas Bowl in Nassau. Weather should be quite nice.
