USC, UCLA leave Pac-12 for Big 10

Post by bbattle » June 30th 2022, 3:10pm

Wowsers, didn't see that one coming. And supposedly, the Big 10 isn't done. That means the SEC will be picking up two more teams. I see Clemson and either Florida State or North Carolina making a move.

Notre Dame may be left on the outside looking in but the Big 10 may convince them to join up.

Look for oregon to make a move too I agree NC and Clemson would look good in the big ten. I think consolation of the major conferences are long overdue. College football is more about money not so much about tradition anymore

ACC teams have a $50 million dollar buyout and have 4 year wait as well. Fuck usc and ucla. They wind themselves as chum in the big 10. Pac 10 expands or merges with big 12 with 2 divisions

I don't understand it. College football should be about academics and fun rivalry.

Coaches, who should work 4 months a year, should receive no more than $30k. Give them a $100k bonus if they win the big match.

That's it. Period.

Divisions II and lower ARE about academics and fun rivalry. Division I is all about the benjamins. But even over a hundred years ago, Harvard and Yale would give scholarships to thugs to come play football for them. Football was so rough back then, it resembled a brawl more than an actual organized contest. I believe Teddy Roosevelt threatened to have the government step in if steps weren't taken to reel in the violence. One of the resulting changes was the legalization of the forward pass.

I would like for the NFL to create a football minor league and if you are 18 and out of school you can go play there. Those that wish to learn a thing or two and maybe play some football on the side are free to go to college.

But the universities that make many, many millions off football would never go for that. Nor would the NFL.

I'm not going to say what anyone's salary should be; that's for the market to decide, IMO.

At least with this NIL, college players can make some serious cash now.

I foresee two giant conferences that decide to hold their own championship game and not pay attention to the rest of the college teams and conferences. The "other" conferences decide to have their own playoffs and championship game. And fans everywhere are just glad to see some football on Saturdays.
