Oooh, I really hope Brazel wins! No, I really hope Argentinia kick's Brazel's arse! Wait... I couldn't find either of those places on a map - what are they anyway, countries? states? cities? - and I could not care less whether either one of those teams, whoever or whatever they represent, wins a soccer match.

This is my take on nationalism generally.
Meritocracy: the privilege, wealth and advancement of those who chose their parents wisely.
Capitalism: a cult that promised to do good for the worst reasons.
Nationalism: a profound longing to go back to a past that never existed.

Wasn't Rugby invented because a soccer player got so frustrated/bored that he picked up the ball and ran it in for a score?
I think it can be interesting to see how skilled someone can become within a restriction. Like with soccer players not being able to use their hands vs rugby.

You could make similar comparisons between boxing and MMA. I don't think boxing is less interesting because you can't grapple.
