Wimbledon 2021

Post by jason_recliner » July 5th 2021, 3:54pm

Well in to the deep end of the tournament - quarter finals.

A big one for Australia coming up. Aussie Ash Barty vs Aussie Ali Tomlin Arh Janic Ale Tomlevi Agile Tomato Ajla Tomljanovic. My money's on Barty, the world number one, although admittedly I haven't seen the Russian Eurotrash other Aussie play recently. Either way, Australia gets a player in the semis. Whoever wins, I believe she'll have a hard time playing Aryna Sabalenka in the final. Sabalenka looked fucking explosive last night, some of the best tennis I've seen in a while. Looks to be a completely different level to Barty.

Speaking of the best tennis... Djokovic is through to the quarters with relative ease - again - and has to be the favourite. If anybody is still in doubt that he's the GOAT, a 20th Slam would surely remove any remaining doubt.

You gotta love Wimbledon!

I manage not to

I like watching people who are really, really good at stuff...but the manipulated competitive aspects of professional sport are less interesting.
Meritocracy: the privilege, wealth and advancement of those who chose their parents wisely.
Capitalism: a cult that promised to do good for the worst reasons.
Nationalism: a profound longing to go back to a past that never existed.

Barty vs Pliskova in the final. Haven't seen Pliskova play this tournament but she beat Sabalenka so she's playing some amazing tennis. Aussie Ash has her work cut out.
