What happended to 2022 AFL?
For the first time since they were incorporated, the Mighty Eagles are at the bottom of the ladder. I (and surely many others) saw a decline in fortunes coming a few seasons ago, as we had a great but ageing team. I assumed management and coaching would mitgate this by bringing on new talent. Doesn't seem to have happened enough, soon enough.
The Mighty Eagles need a lot of things. One thing I think they need is my former boss, former Eagle, an insprational and proven effective leader (and former Eagles coach) to engage with them as a sort of 'consultant coach'. Make the tough decisions. Nic Nat is a lovely charismatic player but to be be fair his best seasons were 3+ years ago. Sadly, the same is probably true of big Josh Kennedy.
