Longines HydroConquest Now Garbed in Green

Post by koimaster » February 11th 2020, 4:07pm

Longines has in recent years added new and eye-catching colorways to its sportiest divers’ watch, the HydroConquest, most recently with last year’s all-black and all-grey models with ceramic bezels that matched their dials. Among this year’s new releases, which the brand previewed last week in New York, is the latest version of the HydroConquest sporting a military-look khaki-green dial and bezel

TBH, I'm not particularly fond of the Hydroconquest. Sure, the build quality is great, but the bracelet clasp is horrible. Odd lug widths in a diver just have to be a joke. And the rubber strap with the deployant clasp has the flaw of most Swatch Group rubber bands - you can only adjust it by cutting off a bit of it, and if you cut it a segment too far, you've got to buy another band.

The basic model with the aluminium bezel is more or less OK, in quartz or auto version. The ceramic version is too glossy, dumbed down with a not fully indexed bezel, and far too bulky, which combined with the glitter of the bezel is just no good.

And this shows. I've seen more than some interest in aluminium bezel versions. Hardly anyone ever considers the ceramic one.
I always hope for the best. Experience, unfortunately, has taught me to expect the worst.

A little spendy but I could live with that watch quite easily. After all I did wear that color for 4 years.
NRPI and Shitheel here.

If I am to be insulted I must first value your opinion.
