Glycine Bronze Combat Sub

Post by koimaster » April 16th 2019, 4:50pm

Arrived today, quick photos and quick impressions. Cell phone photos not the best.

Came in standard watch box, nothing fancy

Watch was in shrink wrap which seemed a bit odd to me.

Do not like the strap, not certain about the brand new copper penny look either. Reminds me of a Tudor Black Bay bronze case except for the hour markers. Even the bezel seems to be a clone of the Tudor. Will know about the forum darling in a couple of days.

I am curious as to what type of bronze you are using in the Glycine Bronze Sub I just purchased. A claim of a bronze case but no specifics. Could you please provide the case material type and grade.

Thank you,

Alain

Glycine never responded to me in regards to my follow up question about heromex making their watches. I can only conclude they have the watches made in asia and finished in a sweatshop in cheese land to meet "made in swissese" requirements.

A sweatshop in Cheeseland probsbly isn't what you're thinking. Instead think a vast, clinical Ken Adam James Bond film set type operation with everyone in white coats gliding about on a polished white travertine floor. And everyone drives Audis. That's a Swiss sweatshop!

So, now Gnomon is in on these Glycine deals..they're offering the green dial 42mm bronze Sub for $570.00..Ashford's still has the brown & black dial versions at $410.00..
https://www.ashford.com/us/watches/glyc ... 5001&so=45
https://www.ashford.com/us/watches/glyc ... 5001&so=47

Glycine-Direct has the green, blue, black, and brown dials available at $499.00..
https://www.ebay.com/str/glycinedirect/ ... 1161803010

Gnomon is also selling some of the other Combat Subs(like the Golden Eye) at higher prices than what you can get at Ashfords and Glycine-Direct..

Damn, Gnomon is already sold out of most of their Glycines..when they're replenished, I'm guessing there w/b something of a price hike, ala Glycine-Direct..

Arrived today -

My original follow up question to them after they confirmed the type of bronze used in the cases.

Thank you for the prompt reply. One of the members noticed that Heromex has claimed to make Glycine watches. Attached is their claim. Since at least 23 members of the forum own newer model Glycine watches including my bronze combat sub, it is a bit disconcerting to see a company in Hong Kong claim to not only make Invicta and techomarine, but Glycine as well.

Image

I would like assurances that these watches are made as you claim, in Bienne in your factory and not in Hong Kong. Thanks for your time and attention to this.

Regards,

Alain

Dear Alain

thanks for your additional statement.

Could you please give us a bit more information?
Can you send us the link of this homepage? It seems that this website was not created by Heromex and it is not authentic.
And for our better understanding, you mention members, can we ask you what for a community you have this information.

We can confirm that all Glycine watches are made in Switzerland as per Swissness regulations.

We look forward on your feedback.

Oh, that Hemorex... they ain't us.

Certainly more responsive than I'd expect an IWC entity to be, re: to the metal and whatnot. I reckon they haven't sent in the hatchet people yet.
